The North Bay, Widdifield, and West Ferris Fire Departments have always strived to encourage Fire Prevention as an important part of their purpose.  The mandate of the fire prevention department is to reduce loss of life and property by administering and implementing programs of Fire Prevention including Public Education, Fire Safety Inspections, Ontario Fire Code and By-Law Enforcement, Plan Examination and Fire Cause Determination.

A trophy was presented annually to the local school that had the “most orderly and efficient fire drill during fire prevention week”.
