The spectacular fire and collapse of the Transportation Building left a dramatic impact on the North Bay landscape.  The triangular shaped building was located at the corner of Algonquin and Main Streets and housed twenty five tenants including Canadian National Telecommunications at the time of the fire.

The dramatic collapse of the building was captured by North Bay Nugget photographer Barry Davis in the photo included in the display.   Paul Laframboise is pictured on a ladder on the left side of the photo. The ladder had been closer to the building and one of the Fire Captains ordered it raised and moved away from the wall shortly before the building collapsed.
