Although this dinner was simply a social celebration, many events were held to raise money. The women’s group, Hadassa-WIZO, organized cookbooks, box luncheons and fashion shows. The men’s group, B’nai Brith, directed their efforts towards scholarships, the hospitals, and the Cancer Society, with an annual tag day. The Young Judea youth group concentrated on summer camps with other Jewish children from northern Ontario.

All of these groups have fallen on hard times with the lack of Jewish population in the city.
