Frosh Week is hosted annually by the Nipissing University Student Union (NUSU) and is all about welcoming and integrating new students. It has been a significant orientation event that has occurred for decades, even before Nipissing University came to be the post-secondary institution it is today.

The week hosts various team building activities that promote inclusion, leadership, philanthropy, community engagement, campus navigation, collaboration with peers, and exploring the city of North Bay. Frosh Week is a significant part of a student’s post-secondary career, and has become a favourite memory for many alumni. Today, this orientation week has very popular events such as Muddy Olympics, the Amazing Race city-wide scavenger hunt and Shinerama, a fundraising campaign to raise awareness and funds for Cystic Fibrosis Canada.

Shinerama is Canada’s largest post-secondary fundraiser involving over 35,000 student volunteers from 60 universities and colleges across the country. In their brightly coloured t-shirts, Nipissing University students are able to wash cars, clean shoes and sing songs to raise money for Shinerama thanks to the kindness of the North Bay community.
